Assistant Marine Officer Instructor

Daniel R. Tabor was born in Houston, TX and raised in Detroit, MI. He enlisted in November 2009 and underwent training at 3d Recruit Training Battalion, India Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. In January 2010 Private Tabor completed Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

He was ordered to Marine Corps Service Support Schools in Jacksonville, NC, where he earned the Military Occupational Specialty 3043, Supply Administration and Operations Specialist.

In February 2010 Private Tabor was ordered to 2D Supply Battalion, 2D MLG Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as a Due in and Status File Clerk. During this time he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class on 1 May 2010 and Meritoriously to the rank of Lance Corporal on 2 September 2010.

Lance Corporal Tabor was assigned to 2D Supply Battalion Reinforced in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 11-12 in the Helmsman Province, where he was promoted to Corporal on 1 August 2011. Corporal Tabor served as the Headquarters Company clerk and completed Corporals Course. Corporal Tabor completed his tour and was reassigned back to 2D Supply Battalion where he held the billet of Fiscal NCO. He was promoted to Sergeant on 1 September 2013.

Sergeant Tabor was transferred in January 2014 to Blount Island Command, Jacksonville, FL, where he served as the Supply Quality Assurance Chief for the Marine Corps Preposition Program-Norway. Sergeant Tabor completed Supply Intermediate Course and Sergeant’s Course. He also attended Basic Drill Instructor School.

    In October 2016 Sergeant Tabor reported to 3D Recruit Training Regiment (RTR), Parris Island, SC were he served as a drill instructor and senior drill instructor for Lima Company. On 1 January 2017 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and completed Career Course. Staff Sergeant was assigned to Support Battalion where he finished his tour as the Logistics chief.

In September 2019, Staff Sergeant Tabor was transferred to Headquarters Company, Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, Training Command, Twentynine Palms, CA where he was assigned as the Recoverable Items Chief and various other billets. Staff Sergeant Tabor reported to the University of Michigan NROTC unit as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor in August of 2021 and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant on 1 September 2021.

    His personal awards include the, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
